Office Trainee (long-term career)
At WAM Software, we have been dedicated to providing software and customer service to the refuse and recycling industry for over twenty-five years.. We market our software nationally, sell it, train people on using it, and then provide technical support to help them in their daily use of the software.
At this time, we have a position open for a full-time entry level trainee who would be as dedicated as we are. This is a long-term career position with advancement potential. It is a tremendous opportunity if you are willing to work hard to achieve your goals. After working here for two years, you can expect to receive above average pay and benefits.
This is a full-time, forty hour per week, office position that mostly revolves around customer service. Office hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch, and with major holidays off. Some travel is required. Travel is usually in one week intervals and would happen approximately twice per year.
To be considered for this position, you must learn quickly, be very thorough, be personable on the phone, and have good grammar skills. General familiarity with computers and the ability to type quickly is also required. If you have these skills and you like people, then you would probably enjoy being here on a daily basis.
This position requires a certain level of mathematical skill. If it takes you more than a minute to answer the three questions below, then please do not apply:
1) 176 men, women, and children attended the wedding. 78 of them were men and 3 of them were children. How many women attended the wedding?
2) What is the next number in the following sequence? 1, 3, 9, 27,
3) What would be the amount of the sales tax on a $400 purchase if the sales tax was 7.125%?
Your ability to learn quickly and thoroughly is very important, as you will always have to keep up with industry changes, enhancements to our software, and changes in general computer advancements. If you do not pick things up very quickly, you will not last long at this job.
Your first four weeks is a training period, which means three important things. First, you spend a lot of time training in addition to working. Second, your status is temporary during this time. Third, you are paid at a minimal hourly rate until you complete training. At the end of your training, your performance is reviewed. If you remain with the company, you will receive a rate increase. Your new pay rate continues until you have been here for one year. At the end of a year, you will have another rate increase and be eligible for medical benefits and bonuses.
During your first year, you have no assigned position, so you must be willing to do whatever is needed. This is a small company with many duties, so if you have any type of "that's not my job" attitude, then this job is not for you.
At the end of a year, you no longer have the varied duties or temporary status. You are assigned a permanent position and are responsible for a certain area. Also, your permanent pay rate is set at this time. It will not be dependent upon your previous job experience or past rates, but on the value of your contributions toward the growth of the company. And finally, you become eligible for medical insurance, company bonuses, and retirement fund contributions. The pay and benefits of someone who has been here for over two years is normally above average and for someone who has been here for over four years, it is normally significantly above average.
